<p>The carnival festival will start on January 13 with King Momo and his entourage leading the float parade and will continue till January 16 with a variety of entertainment programmes held at different venues in the city on all 4 days.</p>
<p>In order to ensure that nudism, alcoholism and other things are not permitted on the floats, this committee has appointed a screening committee to screen the floats thoroughly for King Momo’s parade.</p>
<p>Mr Uday Madkaikar has been elected as chairman while Mr Naguesh Karrishetty, Mr Bento Loreno, Mr Milind Shirodkar, Ms Fatima Coutinho, Mr Aaron Teles, Mr Richard Gomes and Mr Cesar D’Mello have been elected as members to the above committee.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Vasco carnival committee-2010 has planned to invite the participants of ‘Little Champs’ from Mumbai and also to call upon the film stars to visit the port town of Vasco, during the forthcoming Carnival parade.</p>
<p>A meeting of the Vasco carnival committee was held under the chairmanship of Mormugao municipal council (MMC), chairperson, Mr Shekhar Khadapkar at the MMC hall on January 12, to elect the committee for the year 2010.</p>
<p>The Revenue Minister, Mr D’Souza has been elected as the chairman of the said committee. Mr Khadapkar has been elected as the ex-officio chairman, while Mr Arnaldo Rego, Mr Gregorio Fernandes, Ms Lavina D’Souza, Mr Agnelo Nunes and Ms Liby Khadapkar have been elected as vice-presidents.</p>
<p>In Margao, a meeting called by the chairperson of the Margao municipal council (MMC), Mr Savio Coutinho saw councillor, Mr John Gonsalves unanimously elected as the Margao carnival committee chief. The meeting, attended by the most councillors also decided to have Khel tiatrs and cultural programmes in all wards during carnival.</p>
<p>Meanwhile, the Mapusa Carnival Festival Celebration Committee for the year 2010 was formed with Convenor: Mr Francis D’Souza, Chairperson Mrs Rupa Bhatkar. President Mr Oscar D’Souza, General Secretary Mr Savio De Souza, General secretary Mr Sandeep Falari and Treasurer Mr Asdraleno D’Mello.</p>
