Entertainment treat for the rest of Goa during IFFI

Entertainmenbt society of Goa (ESG) will organize cultural programme in 11 centres of all 11 talukas of Goa to celebrate IFFI 2008. The total budget allocated for the programme committee was 2 crore.

However, the programme was finalized with a buget of 1.5 crore. The cultural programme and concerts will be staged at five main venues and six small venues. The five venues will be NIWS ground,-Caranzalem, Costa ground ground-Margao, Baina ground –Vasco, Animal Husbandary ground –Curti, Ponda and Municipal Ground in Sanquelim.

The performance during the four day concert will be by singer Sonu Nigam, Kavita Krishnamurti, music arranger Merlin D’souza, singer Uttara Kelkar . Goan percussionist Bondo, comedian Navin Prabhakar and Goan dancer Jason and Sylvia.

Bollywood movies at IFFI

‘Summer 2007’ which sank earlier at the box office, was selected as one among the four Hindi feature film to complete in the Indian panorama section of IFFI. The film will be among the other hit film like ‘A Wednesday’, ‘Jodhaa Akbar’, ‘Taare Zameen Par’.

The film explores, with deep humanism, the coming together of India’s cool, happening youth with the Agrarian Crisis that is threatening to spiral out of control.

The film starred Sikander Kher, Gul Panag, Yuvika Choudhury ,Arjan Bajwa and Alekh Sangal. The film received an appreciative response at the IFFI screening.

Goan Produced Film now at Golden Gate Festival

‘Mare Paryant’ a Marathi fiction flick, produced by the Goan duo Dr,. Promod Salgaonkar and Jyothi Cuncolienkar has been selected for the Golden Gate Fiction and documentary festival to be held at California, USA.

The fiction based on the capital punishment was rejected at the Indian panorama section of International film festival of India (IFFI) 2008.

The film which is extensively shot in Goa and Mumbai has veteran actors like Kishor kadam, Varsha Usgaonkar, Prabhakar Panshikar and Ashok Samarth.
