Peace was shattered in the Khareband locality of the commercial capital after a notorious history sheeter from the area Tadev Diniz (45) was stabbed to death by an angry woman outside a hotel at Khareband on Thursday evening.
The police immediately placed under arrest the accused woman Filsu alias Rani (45), who was putting up in the Housing Board, under Section 302 of the IPC for murder.
Margao Police station in-charge, PI Santosh Desai said the incident occurred when the accused allegedly tried to catch hold of the woman when she was passing outside Simba hotel, Khareband this evening.
“The woman resisted the attempt to molest her when he allegedly caught hold of her shoulder and chest. In the ensuing scuffle between the duo, Tadev is believed to have lost balance and fell on a cycle,” PI Desai said.
But, before he could regain control, the woman in a fit of rage is believed to have removed a knife from her bag and sat on Tadev before stabbing him on his chest, which proved fatal.
The woman struck the man so hard that the knife broke near the handle. The orange coloured handle was found some meters away from the body.
Tadev died instantly after the knife punctured his lungs. His body was lying outside the hotel, before the police rushed to the spot and placed the woman under arrest.
During preliminary investigations, the accused woman is believed to have told the police that she had gone to Khareband to meet someone in order to share her tension regarding her personal life. However, she could not meet the person and while returning encountered Tadev at the place of the incident.
Margao PI Santosh Desai told media that Tadev has been a history sheeter and was twice convicted for rape and molestation. “The notorious man was earlier convicted for rape in 1993 for 10 years. Besides, he was sentenced to five months for the offence of molestation,” PI Desai added.
Besides, Tadev was twice booked for attempt to murder, assault in the jurisdictions of Margao and Maina Curtorim police stations, police said.
