Union Minister of State for Communications and IT, Sachin Pilot launched Aadhar in Goa – an ambitious project of the Government of India which aims at giving a Unique Identity Number (UID) to each and every citizen of the country.
Launching the project via video conferencing, Pilot interacted with Chief Minister, Digambar Kamat and sought cooperation to make the project a success. He later issued UID enrollment to some prominent citizens, including senior citizen to mark the launching the project.
The postal department, which has been identified for enrollment under the scheme, has identified 21 post offices across Goa. Aldona, Alto Porvorim, Bicholim, Calangute, Mapusa, Panjim HO, Pernem, Ponda, Sanquelim, Secretarait, Valpoi, Canacona, Chinchinim, Curchorem, Margao, Mormugao, Navelim, Quepem, Sanguem, Vasco and Zuari Nagar will functioning as enrollment stations.
Goa Post Master General Charles Lobo said these post offices will try to enroll 1400 citizens per day under the scheme. “In order to ensure smooth enrollment work, the department will issue enrollment forms and tokens in advance clearing indicating the date for enrollment.
