In two separate fire mishaps in Margao city, three shops were gutted suffering heavily to the tune of Rs 25 lakh, while a cyber cafe located near New Era High School also suffered a loss of Rs 50,000, on late Wednesday night.
In the first case, sources from fire and emergency services informed that property worth around Rs 10 lakh was saved from the ravaging fire which was reported at 12.57 a.m. near Cine Lata. A fire tender was rushed to the spot immediately. However, it was only after second fire tender was summoned the blaze was brought under control. Two general stores and a bakery shop were gutted in the fire.
The cause of fire was not known immediately, however the fire and emergency services has sent the report to the electricity department to ascertain the cause of fire.
In another incident, at around 3.40 a.m. a second call was received by the fire and emergency services that a fire broke out in a cyber café cum computer shop which rushed to the spot and saved property worth around Rs 2 lakh.
The fire and emergency department, Margao said a report on this will be submitted to the electricity department to find out the cause of the fire. The said shop belongs to Mr Pankaj Bandeker.
