Leader of the Opposition in Goa Manohar Parrikar is likely to become a national General Secretary of the BJP when new BJP chief Nitin Gadkari announces his new team following the party’s national executive and national council meetings, scheduled for February 17. The names of Rajasthan Leader of the Opposition Vasundhara Raje and Bhagalpur MP Shahnawaz Hussain are also in the reckoning for national general secretaries, according to a report in ‘Asian Age’.
Raje is yet to submit her resignation from the post of the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly, and is likely to submit it by the end of next week. The names of Madhya Pradesh BJP Chief Narendra Tomar and former MP Kirit Somaiya for posts of national vice-president are also doing the rounds in party circles. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation Director Tarun Vijay is likely to be named the party’s national spokesperson.
Gadkari is reportedly likely to induct party women’s wing chief Kiran Maheshwari as a national secretary, along with the party headquarters-in-charge Shyam Jaju.
