Talking to Herald, Indian Meteorological Observatory, Goa in-charge K V Singh said that Wednesday temperature soared to 35.3 Degree Celsius to set a record.

He observed that the temperature was one degree above the normal 34 Degree Celsius. Humidity had crossed 70 percent creating discomfort and unease, and night temperatures are also increasing due to cloudy weather, he said.

Met Department statistics revealed that last year, May 30 was recorded as the hottest day of the season with temperature rising to 36.7 Degree Celsius.

May 6, 2004 has been marked as the hottest day of the decade, with department recording 38.6 Degree Celsius temperature.

Meanwhile, Singh said that like last year, monsoons are expected in Goa on June 10.

“There are rare possibilities that monsoon might come prior to this. It will be called as delayed monsoon, only if it fails to hit the State on June 10,” he said adding the pre monsoon showers are expected by May 30.
