Collem police late Friday evening took the alleged serial killer, Mahanand Naik, into four days police custody to conduct inquiry into the Vakikuyana-Shigao, Collem, murder case.
Speaking to Herald, Collem Police PI Manoj Mardolkar informed that on November 12, 2008, a decomposed female body was found at Vakikuyana.
Police has suspected the involvement of Mahanand Naik in the Vakikuyana murder case.
Collem police produced Mahanand Naik before Sanguem JMFC and took the alleged serial killer into four days police custody from Ponda police on transfer warrant.
It may be recalled that Mahanand, who was arrested by Ponda police on charges of raping a 22-year-old woman from Shiroda for two years, later admitted to the murder of 16 women over a period of 15 years.
The Court have given Govt. Advocate – Adv. Mariano D’souza as to fight in favour of Mr. Mahanand Naik. The case will be heard on 3rd October,09 - Panjim High Court at 3pm.
