State government has said that Integrated Coastal Zone plan as per Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) notification, 2011 would be in place only after considering Regional Plan (RP), 2021.
Goa State Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) member secretary Michael D’Souza has requested National Coastal Zone Management Authority (NCZMA) to highlight mangroves, sand dunes and other ecologically sensitive issues on the shoreline in their coastal maps.
He has said that these maps then can be super imposed on Regional Plan of Goa for finalization of Integrated Coastal Zone Plan as per CRZ Notification 2011.
During NCZMA meeting in Delhi, D’Souza also stated that with reference to the directions given by Panjim Bench of Bombay High Court, state government has already started identifying the violations of CRZ Notification, 1991 and so far 198 structures within 0-200 mts. from high tide line (HTL) have been demolished. “The government has been appraising the Court accordingly from time to time,” he said.
