India’s first ever beauty pageant for eunuchs, Nazakat Queen-2010, is to be held in Goa on February 10.
Filmmaker Ganesh Kharwar, who is organising the event — expected to cost Rs 4 crore — says he plans to hold auditions in nine cities across India, from January 5.
The top three transgender finalists will walk the ramp in Goa alongside professional women models in the very first ‘Nazakat Queen’ beauty pageant. “The winner and two runners up will feature in my film on India’s Kinnar (transgender) community that will be called ‘World Third, Human Third Sex’ that will be made immediately following the contest”, said Kharwar, who is working on the show with his associates at the V Care FM International.
“In Delhi, I saw and met a number of talented and beautiful eunuchs following which I mooted the idea to some leaders in the community across cities. They surprised us by getting more excited with our pageant than us. With contestants so beautiful, the competition is expected to be tough”, said Kharwar.
The winner of the Nazakat Queen-2010 pageant will get a cash prize of Rs 2.25 lakh. The first runner-up will get Rs 1.25 lakh, and the second runner-up will get Rs 75,000.
