Goa Government said that the land acquisation proposal to set up the sport city to host National Games 2011in the state Dhargal constituency in North Goa is under process.
“At present the land has not been acquired. However, the proposal for acquisition of suitable land admeasuring 13,26,875 sq mt at Dhargalim in Pernem taluka has been submitted to Collector,” state sports minister Manohar Azgaonkar said.
In a reply tabled on the floor of the house during recently concluded state legislative assembly session, the sports minister has said that Goa Government has already signed the Host City contract on September 14, 2009 with the Indian Olympic Association and the State Olympic Association for hosting National Games-2011 in Goa.
He said that the proposal towards financial assistance to the tune of Rs 570 crore for the development of sports infrastructure for the national games is under active consideration of the Planning Commission.
“The state government has appointed consultant to prepare the detailed project report of the proposed sports city through sports authority of Goa,” Azgaonkar added.[Source]
