The Institute for Competitiveness has ranked Goa as the best State in India for doing business while pushing Delhi and Maharashtra one spot down from last year to second and third position respectively.
“Income, consumption and demographics have played the most critical role in Goa’s ascendancy to the top spot,” says the new State competitiveness report released by the institute here.
Gujarat, however, fares in its report as the best middle-income State because of its focus on providing business incentives, improving physical and communication infrastructure and the state’s healthy financial condition.
Rajasthan, on the other hand, tops the ranking among the low-income States owing to its higher income and consumption capability. It also scored the highest in communication infrastructure and human capacity.
The institute claims to be the Indian knot in the global network of the Institute for Strategy and Competitiveness at Harvard Business School.
