Panaji: Old Goa police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 55-year-old security guard on Thursday.The deceased identified as Luis Bogato was found in a pool of blood outside the Musuem of Christian Art. Moreover, the gallery was burgled of historic valuables.
Police have arrested four persons on suspicion in connection with the murder but their identity is kept under wraps pending custodial interrogation.“We have arrested four security guards… We suspect they plotted the robbery and his killing. The crime scene has been sealed…” Old Goa inspector Edwin Colaco said.
Police said two Rosaries and one bracelet of gold, lady gold belt studded with diamonds, pectoral cross of diamond along with gold chain have been looted from the museum.
The art gallery, located in the vicinity of World Heritage Monuments, has several artifacts of Indo-Portuguese Christian Art with every object displayed in the museum reflecting the immense wealth of the Churches of Goa.
