In daring daylight burglary, cash of Rs 6.5 lakh was stolen from a stationary car near the Vasco police station on Saturday.
According to Vasco police, Remington Patrick Antao had gone to make the payment at ‘Vasco Steel Shop and had parked his Scorpio Jeep (GA-06-D-5677) near the shop, which is opposite the police quarters.
Within a span of 10 minutes, burglars broke open the left side rear glass and stole the cash.
While cash of Rs 5 lakh was in a pouch wrapped inside a newspaper and placed on the rear seat, cash of Rs 1.5 lakh was placed in an envelope.
Vasco police pressed a dog squad and fingerprint experts in a bid to get more clues into the burglary.
It may be recalled that a few days ago, burglars had broken open a scooter dicky in the port town and had stolen Rs 50,000 in cash.
Vasco police has registered an offence against unknown person under section 379 of Indian Penal Code.
