Calangute Panchayat is the richest in Goa. Income from this panchayat mounts to about about 3 crores per annum. Expenditure rounds up to about 2.5 crores. This copious panchayat has a population of about 15,700 plus according to 2001 census.
The income is mainly from tourism, as large number of locals are in hospitality and restaurant business. The village is blessed with beautiful and famous Calangute beach.
However there are no great 5 star hotels in this village, just 3- star resorts and rent back hotels.
