In the recent assembly session a private member’s Bill was moved by Curtorim MLA Reginaldo Lourenco seeking to protect Dhirio – Bullfights as a traditional sport but within a framework of guidelines.
The Prevention of Cruelty to Animal (Goa Amendment) Bill, 2009, moved by the ruling party legislator, on the concluding day of the winter session, gives a hope to the besieged owners of fighter bulls who have been facing police action for quite sometime now. I have watched these Dhirio’s and I don’t think that it should be banned totally. It should be allowed with certain guidelines.
