In a late night development, the Railway Protection Force and Goa Police detained 5-6 persons and conducted a search of the Kerala-bound Netravati Express for possible explosives late Friday night.
RPF and Goa police officials said they were investigating whether the detained persons from Kerala were carrying any explosives in the train. RPF sources said one of the youth travelling in a second class bogey had an altercation with a passenger and threatened to blow up the train within minutes.
When the train chugged at the Margao railway station, the passenger lodged his complaint and the police detained the youngster from Kannur-Kerala. Following information provided by this young man, his other companions travelling on the same train were detained and they were being interrogated at the Konkan Railway Police Station.
Sources in the know said these youngsters had arrived from the Gulf, and the police are verifying their antecedants.
A bomb disposal squad of the Goa police was also requisitioned at around midnight to conduct a detailed search of the train.
