The wait for the second film in the ‘Twilight’ saga is now over.
After much anticipation, Robert Pattinson-Kristen Stewart starrer ‘New Moon’ will hit Indian theatres on December 11.
The film, which was released on November 20 internationally, has already created a ripple with its record-breaking opening at the box-office by raking in USD 258.8 million in opening weekend.
But the wait has been a little long for the movie fans in India, who got the chance to catch the first film ‘Twilight’ onscreen recently, almost a year after its international release.
‘New Moon’ is being brought to India by PVR Pictures, who are planning one of the widest release for the film with over 300 prints.Considering the huge fan following that the movie has among the youth, they are also planning to release it in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
“The overwhelming response that we have received for ‘Twilight’ has been extremely encouraging. With record-breaking collections that New Moon has achieved internationally in its opening weekend, we are very excited to release it across the country.
“We are confident that it will break the record set by ’2012′ and be one of the biggest films of the year,” Deepak Sharma, Head-Distribution (Worldwide), PVR Pictures said in a statement. The series, based on the bestselling novels of Stephanie Meyer, chronicles the romance between a vampire and human.
Pattinson, who became an international star with the surprise success of ‘Twilight’, reprises his role as vampire Edward Cullen in ‘New Moon’. Stewart plays the role of Bella Swan while Taylor Lautner plays her best friend Jacob Black.
The film has a love-triangle with Pattinson and Lautner’s character’s competing for Bella’s affections.
