A little less than a year after he made Katrina Kaif groove to his songs at the closing ceremony of IPL 2, world renowned R&B singer, songwriter Akon is in India to record songs for Shahrukh Khan’s home production Ra.One. The ‘Smack That’ singer is surprisingly aware of Shahrukh’s work and claims to be his fan.
“I am a big fan of Shah Rukh. I am very familiar with Shah Rukh’s work. I am meeting Kareena (Kapoor) for the first time today,” Akon told a news agency at an event hosted by SRK to welcome him in Mumbai on Tuesday.
‘Ra.One’ stars Shahrukh as a superhero and Kareena Kapoor as his ladylove. She was also at the event. Akon will sing and compose different versions of a song for the movie and leave it to SRK and director Anubhav Sinha to decide which song should be included in the film.
“I am also composing. You know, I will give him (Shahrukh) a couple of versions of the song, the way I do it. And I will also integrate it with the traditional way the Bollywood films are done. I will give them options and they will decide, which one to use in the film,” Akon revealed.
The Senegalese-American singer said he is looking forward to perform in India during his upcoming world tour.
“The world tour is coming soon and India is one of my biggest market so I will do number of shows here,” said Akon, adding that he would love to collaborate with Indian musicians in the future.
